MILWAUKEE — As the White House COVID-19 Response Team Tuesday confirmed that more than 400,000 eligible Americans have already gotten their Pfizer booster shot over the past few days, public health experts in Wisconsin did their best to push those numbers higher while addressing confusion tied to the booster shot rollout so far.

"People should be excited about the booster shot," Aaron Ruff, public health educator with the Marathon County Health Department, told Spectrum News 1 on Tuesday. "It's a great way for people who are fully vaccinated to get that extra boost to their immune system."

While the CDC last week approved booster shots for certain Americans who'd initially received the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, the wait continues for the federal agency to do the same for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shots as work continues to analyze various studies before rolling them out nationwide.

Ruff made sure to mention that for anyone confused by the staggered booster shot rollout or hesitant to get their shot because of it, not to fear and to seek out their opportunity for a booster shot as soon as it's available.

"For the folks that received Johnson & Johnson or Moderna, 'stay tuned.' We expect there will be more information coming out in the next few weeks regarding booster doses for [them]," Ruff added.
