BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Bowling Green Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for his involvement in allegedly stealing Corvettes from the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant. Eight cars were stolen Saturday.
According to a BGPD report, a driver from a transport company called police about a suspicious incident possibly involving the stolen cars. The driver said he was asked to come to an address on American Avenue to pick up one 2017 Corvette. The driver told police when he arrived at the location, two men met him and said they had three new 2025 Corvettes needing to be transported. He added he noted damage on the bottom of a car and called police telling dispatchers he felt the transaction was “weird.”
Police got to the scene and captured one suspect after chasing him in the parking lot. The other suspect got away driving a Jeep with Ohio license plates. The suspect, Deantae Walker, was taken into custody and refused to speak to officers. Walker is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail.
Police say the vehicle identification numbers for the three vehicles at the scene match the VINs of the three of the stolen cars. The 3 Corvettes are worth a combined $350,000. Bowling Green Police say an investigation continues into the disappearance of the other five cars.
