RALEIGH, N.C. — If you’re looking to go into the medical field, a new program is offering training to health care workers in North Carolina. Minority, woman-owned business Classic Services is opening up a new training academy soon.

What You Need To Know

  • Classic Training Academy in Raleigh will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 12

  • The academy is a program to train health care workers in North Carolina

  • Classic Services was founded in 1996 by Patricia Mathis

The business recently became a proprietary school for the North Carolina Community College System. The founder, Patricia Mathias, said they are similar to other community colleges. They can offer the same types of classes, but they offer them at a faster pace.

Mathias said the school, Classic Training Academy, will offer training in the medical field. She said their mission is to train health care workers in the state and fill a gap they’ve seen in the past couple of years.

“COVID was pushing people to the brink and it made a lot of people change their careers around from what they were doing in the medical field,” Mathias said. “So, we are now trying to convince people to go back into that field.”

Mathias said this adventure stems from a love of wanting to help others.

“Helping people grow is always one of the major things that I’ve always liked to do ever since I was little,” Mathias said.

Classic Training Academy will offer a variety of classes. You can become specialized as a phlebotomy technician, a nurse aide, a pharmacy technician and more. To find a full list of the classes they offer, you can head to the Classic Training Academy website.
