WORCESTER, Mass. - A wreath laying ceremony at the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans' Memorial remembers members of the military who died in service to the country.

City and state leaders joined veterans at the memorial in Worcester’s Green Hill Park.

The four acre memorial includes a pond, walking paths, and the memorial itself.

It's dedicated to the 1,546 men and one woman from Massachusetts who died.

Veteran Phil Madio said it's important to keep all of their names alive.

"A pretty good sized crowd, which I’m happy there was” said Madio. “It's great to see the veterans, you know? I like to see my old buddies, all the old friends I had. A lot of them I knew when I was in high school. And they're showing up now you know, up here, which is... I enjoy seeing them. We want to keep the names of the people behind us, their names and their voices alive. Even though they’re gone we want to make sure that nobody forgets."

The state's Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated in 2002.
