If you’re planning no going out to eat this week, you have the opportunity to help save lives while doing it.
Dining Out For Life in Western New York runs through Friday, October 14 at participating restaurants. It’s all part of a national fundraising effort for HIV support services.
Restaurants who take part will give a percentage of their daily sales to the fundraiser.
All proceeds donated locally will go towards HIV services at Evergreen Health.
"So unfortunately, there is still a lot of stigma out there about HIV,” Rob Baird, Evergreen Health director of advancement, said. “You know it's no longer a death sentence thanks to medical advancements. It's still an illness that needs our attention and our care... HIV is something that effects all populations, so it’s important to keep that in the forefront."
Restaurants taking part are pledging to donate 25, 33 or even 55% of their daily income to the cause.
