Kentucky's Hank the Horse made it to the quarterfinals of America's Favorite Pet, according to the nonprofit organization For Hank's Sake. 

Hank the Horse is a Tennessee walking horse who was the first rescue for the organization. For Hank's Sake works to rescue unwanted horses and helps them with rehabilitation and retraining. 

The winner of American's Favorite Pet will receive $10,000 and will have a two-paged feature in InTouch Magazine.

Hank the Horse is known throughout Kentucky for visiting thousands of schoolchildren to promote youth literacy, helping to raise awareness around food insecurity, trotting alongside AVOL Kentucky’s annual AIDS Walk and campaigning for the Salvation Army each year. 

If he wins, Hank and his mom, Tammi, said they plan to reinvest the $10,000 into the communities they help to serve. 

The upcoming rounds for America's Favorite Pet are:

  • Quarterfinals: Oct. 3-13
  • Semifinals: Oct. 14-20
  • Finals: Oct. 21-27

Public voting will determine which pet is the winner in the finalists group.
