Erin Wilson is a multimedia journalist based in Louisville and a native of the Bluegrass State. She came to Spectrum News 1 in March 2021 from WTVY, a CBS-affiliated station in Dothan, Ala.

Prior to WTVY, she interned at both WFIE, covering Owensboro and Evansville, and WLKY in Louisville. Having grown up in Oldham County, just outside Louisville, it was always her dream to return home, and to tell stories of the people who live here.

Among the most meaningful events Erin has covered was the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, while she was in Alabama. She traveled to Lake Charles, La., where she met hundreds of people who survived the storm and told their stories.

While in Dothan, she also started a canned-food drive between all the local schools to help families in need during the holiday season and ignite a little friendly competition within their student bodies.

Erin ran cross-country and track & field at South Oldham High School and into college at Kentucky Wesleyan, where she was also involved at the campus radio station. Though she now considers herself a “retired” athlete, she still enjoys running and playing basketball. She has an older sister, who is a teacher at Crestwood Elementary, and a younger brother, who is a teacher at Oldham County Middle School.
