Ashleigh Mills is an Emmy award-winning journalist who is proud to join the Spectrum News team as Reporter and Weekend Anchor. Ashleigh is new to the Bluegrass State and is excited to make Louisville, Kentucky, her home!

Raised in the small town of Evans, GA, Ashleigh realized her passion for reporting and storytelling at a young age, when she wrote for her high school newspaper. Ashleigh began her career covering South Carolina’s coast and Lowcountry for WSAV-TV in Savannah, GA, and later moved to Columbia, SC, to cover politics inside the South Carolina Statehouse for WIS-TV. 

In her career, Ashleigh has covered notable stories such as the Charleston church shooting of June 2015 and the church shooter’s death penalty trial, and the murder trial for the ex-North Charleston police officer, Michael Slager, who shot Walter Scott to death in April 2014.  

Ashleigh is a graduate of The University of South Carolina, where she studied Broadcast Journalism. That’s where Ashleigh was awarded an Emmy for her story on a college group’s demonstration to arm themselves on campus. 

In her spare time, Ashleigh enjoys spending time with her husband traveling, hiking, and cooking.
