COVID-19 vaccine Alumni Week runs April 19 through April 23 and has the school's senior director of engagement, Mary Ann Vetter, calling on all Cardinals to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We want to make sure we support everyone who wants to come out and get vaccinated," Vetter said.

There was certainly some extra pep Monday morning as members of the Cardinals cheer team greeted drivers checking in at the drive-through clinic.

“We’ve missed one another in an in-person environment so it’s great to see some people in person today and to know that the future in coming together where we can cheer for our Cardinals and say 'Go Cards,' in person," Vetter adds.

Vetter says the clinic is running smoothly. "It’s incredibly efficient, you can get through the process of registering and getting your shot in 8 minutes or less."

Vaccines are free and while registering beforehand is preferred it can easily be done on site.

Drivers are moving quickly through Louisville's Cardinal Stadium vaccine site

“We have a great Cardinal Network of alumni who are obviously connected at all times. Times like this are tough for everybody so we’re hoping to get people out sooner rather than later. We’d like to get people back to life," Kelly Hodges said Monday. Hodges is a former chair of the UofL Alumni Board.

“Hope everyone can come out throughout the entire week. You do not have to be a graduate this week this is just our promotion for the Cardinal family but we’re really trying to get as many people out as possible," Josh Hawkins, Asst. VP of the Alumni Association said. UofL Health also just announced longer hours of operation this week at the Cardinal Stadium site. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the site will be open until 8 p.m.

In a release a UofL Health spokesperson said, "This extension is because we know a lot of people want to come after work so we want to accommodate that need. Right now, the extension is only for this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday."
