LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With the decision in the attorney general’s investigation into the police killing of Breonna Taylor looming, a federal judge on Friday signed an order to close The Gene Snyder U.S. Courthouse and Custom House in downtown Louisville. The building will be closed from September 21-25, according to the order, which does not cite a reason for the closure

In the brief order, Judge Chief Judge Greg Stivers stipulated that all matters set to go before the court next week should do so via videoconferencing, if possible. 

The courthouse’s closure comes with Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s investigation into Taylor’s killing widely expected to come to an end in the coming weeks. But Cameron has given no public indication about when the investigation will end. 

“My office is continually asked about a timeline regarding the investigation into the death of Ms. Breonna Taylor,” Cameron said in a statement last week. “An investigation, if done properly, cannot follow a specific timeline. My office has endeavored since day one to find the truth and pursue justice, wherever that may take us and however long that may take.” A spokesperson for his office did not return a request for comment.

A spokesperson for Mayor Greg Fischer's office said Cameron has given them no indicaton of when the annnouncement is coming.
