SANTA MONICA, Calif. — A fire prompted closure of a section of the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway Wednesday in Santa Monica, snarling traffic for about three hours.
The fire was reported at about 7:30 a.m. near Fourth Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The eastbound freeway was closed between the McClure Tunnel and Lincoln Boulevard, the CHP reported and traffic was routed around the area.
The lanes were reopened at about 10:30 a.m., the CHP reported.
Fraser Michael Bohm, now 23, of Malibu, is due back in a Van Nuys courtroom Tuesday.
Engineering analysis identified that recent storms and landslides have already caused significant damage to the rail line.
The campaign aims to educate drivers about the importance of staying vigilant when maneuvering near emergency vehicles, the department stated.
The single-vehicle crash happened Thursday.
All northbound lanes were closed for most of Thursday morning after a gas tanker was involved in a traffic collision.
In an update around 7:10 p.m., the OCFA stated the fire was under control with assistance from several police departments.
