PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE: The Pinellas County Shierff's Office confirmed that access to Pinellas County and the barrier islands is now open. However, residents are advised to stay home if at all possible and to use extreme caution if they must absolutely head out on the road.
Pinellas County officials announced early Thursday morning that the county will remain without emergency response due to widespread downed power lines, trees and debris caused by Hurricane Milton.
Large sections of roadways adjacent to U.S.-19 are currently flooded. Residents are advised to avoid the area.
Officials said the county will remain without service until further notice.
