The district conducts prescribed burns as part of a plan to reduce the amount of material that naturally builds up over time and could fuel dangerous wildfires and to protect environmental quality. They are carefully planned, and SJWMD crews ensure that wind and other weather conditions are correct for managing the fire and minimizing the impacts of smoke to residents and traffic.
A small amount of smoke could linger surrounding area.
