SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii — Local Army units will conduct routine daytime and nighttime training in March that could impact surrounding communities.

The U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii asks the public to keep in mind that weather, such as overcast conditions and southerly Kona winds, can increase noise and vibrations. They note that with consistent tradewinds, training noise and vibrations are much less or non-existent.

The training schedule is as follows:

  • March 1-23: Artillery and mortar live fire on Schofield Barracks, day and night including late evening and early morning hours. Note: Community concern regarding recent noise and vibrations has been communicated to senior leaders of all units.
  • March 4-31: Ranger and jungle tactics in the East Range, small arms blank fire, 6 a.m. through 6 p.m.
  • March 7 and 22: Aviation rappelling and extraction training on Schofield Barracks, day only.
  • March 8: Aviation-related training in the East Range such as air assault, MEDEVAC, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems or UAS, can occur 24/7 on Wheeler Army Airfield, in restricted airspace over most of Schofield Barracks and a northwestern section of the Waianae mountain range.

The public can report concerns related to noise or training to the U.S. Army Hawaii’s Community Concern Line at 808-787-1528 or by emailing usag.hawaii.comrel@army.mil. Responses will come during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
