LIHUE, Hawaii — Kauai County’s Department of Public Works Solid Waste Division announced because of equipment issues, the Lihue refuse transfer station will not be accepting scrap metal March 6 through 10.
During the week, the department advises the public to take their metal to the Puhi Metals Recycling Facility at 951 Puhi Rd. Operating hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They can be reached at 808-245-6919. Visit the County of Kauai metal recycling website for more information.
The county reminds the public that all refuse transfer stations, as well as Kekaha Landfill, do not accept commercially generated metal. They must be transported to Puhi Metals directly. Tip fees apply.
