Peanut allergies are some of the most common food allergies among children, but a new study suggests early exposure can help reduce the risk of peanut allergy.

“The new study that was just released this week and announced at the American Academy of Allergy meeting this week in Houston, Texas and published in the New England Journal is called LEAP, Learning Early about Peanut Allergy,” Dr. Pooja Varshney, an allergist at Dell Children’s, said. “What was found was a 70 to 80 percent reduction in the amount of peanut allergy in children who were regularly consuming peanut products.”
