WHEATFIELD, N.Y. -- A woman whose 16-year-old son was hit by a car and killed while walking on a Wheatfield road now stands accused of getting drunk and deliberately trying to hit the man responsible.
Lisa Fischer, 37, faces charges that include DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and assault.
Anthony DiFilippo, who admitted to hitting Ryan Fischer on Krueger Road in Nov. 2014 and then leaving the scene, says that Lisa Fischer tried to hit him with her car in March to retaliate.
DiFilippo claims Lisa Fischer went to his house on March 6 and banged on his doors and windows until he went outside. At that point, DiFilippo claims Fisher hit the accelerator of her car and tried to hit him. DiFilippo told police he jumped out of the way, and Fischer's vehicle hit his garage door, then left.
Lisa Fischer pleaded not guilty to all charges in Wheatfield Town Court.
"I can't begin to understand what she is going through," Niagara County Undersheriff Michael Filicetti said. "I guess the easiest thing to say is that what Mr. DiFilippo did was wrong and what Ms. Fischer did was wrong."
"I don't think it's appropriate to continue this story and bring this up," Filicetti said when reached by phone. "It was an unfortunate situation two years ago and it still is."
DiFilippo was sentenced to six months after admitting to leaving the scene of the crash and texting while driving. He allegedly tried to hide what happened by getting his car repaired outside Niagara County. Part of DiFilippo's sentence was also home confinement on probation for five years.
Fischer returns to court on May 16.
