ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Rochester Police Department is stepping up its efforts to solve a fatal hit-and-run on Monroe Avenue.
Robert Hayflinger, 55, of Rochester, was killed just before midnight on December 8 as he walked along Monroe near the Route 490 interchange.
Investigators started handing out fliers to drivers at that same location around 10 p.m. Thursday.
They're asking anyone who may have been in the area just before midnight on that date to come forward with any information they may have.
Police released images last month of a black vehicle wanted in connection with the case.
No arrest have been made.
"Bottom line is someone knows what happened," RPD Lt. Frank Umbrino said. "There's people who have knowledge of what happened and they need to come forward. They don't want to live the next 25 years knowing we will be watching them and waiting for them to make a mistake."
Police ask anyone who may recognize the vehicle to call the Major Crimes Unit or 311.
