It’s something Columbus resident Kelley Veal said she showed up extra early for.

“Everyday, I come to the Goodwill to find the best bargains,” Veal said. “It’s just my favorite store, they’re really nice here.”

Veal said she usually is shopping for her daughter or sons, but this week, she’s shopping for herself, too.

Goodwill Columbus, a nonprofit, is giving away free bridal gowns now through May 7 at its Brice and Morse Road locations in Columbus. The chain received a large shipment of gowns in 12 styles from a dress retailer.

“You know I'm not getting married until next year but it's a great time to start shopping for it because, you know, you take it in you can decide if you want to lose weight or gain weight or whatever you want to do and you already have the dress for it.”

Shoppers are welcome from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dressing rooms are open. There is a one dress limit per customer and Veal isn't leaving empty-handed.

"Someone returned this one back over there," Veal said. "I like this one because of the lace on top. It looks pretty."
