DAYTON, Ohio — The Dayton Metro Library announced new summer hours to better meet the community's needs and updated some policies involving age limits and chaperones.

The library said the adjusted hours are a reflection of summer library usage and will allow the maximum access to library staff and services. 

Starting June 1, here are the summer hours at all DML branches:

  • Monday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As for policy changes, the main library no longer requires chaperones for anyone under the age of 18. At the southeast branch, it's now open without restriction, and no appointments are necessary.

The changes will be in effect until Aug. 2, 2025, the library said. Starting Sept. 7, the main library will be open Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
