A routine border patrol stop exposes a lethal secret in the new movie "Transpecos."

The debut feature from Texas filmmaker Greg Kwedar comes with some incredible buzz.

It won the audience award during South By Southwest and rolls out screens big and small with a shocking story of corruption.

The sweltering heat of the US-Mexico border sets the scene for blistering drama and a sensational start to director Greg Kwedar's feature film career.

In “Transpecos,” three West Texas border patrol agents make a huge drug bust that reveals an inside man and a lethal extortion that threatens the whole crew.

Kwedar co-wrote Transpecos with fellow Texan Clint Bailey, partly inspired by their experiences on volunteer border missions during college.

Their low-budget indie thriller is a hit with critics.

Intense performances from the acting trio of Gabriel Luna, Johnny Simmons and Clifton Collins Jr pack heavy dramatic punch.

The dusty scenery and stark cinematography add authentic landscape.

And at 86 minutes, it's a lean mean example of visionary indie filmmaking with an uncommonly potent payoff.
