Alexis Bell grew up in Newport News, Virginia, and with “news” literally in the name of the town she grew up in, it’s no surprise that Alexis knew she wanted to be a reporter from an early age. In July, 2018, Alexis made the move a few hours south, officially joining the Spectrum News coastal team. She now covers news in the Charlotte area. Prior to joining Spectrum News 1, Alexis spent four years as a Tar Heel at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

A passionate reporter, Alexis says her daily inspiration is the ability to make a difference in her community through by the stories of the fascinating people she meets each day. Of the many stories Alexis has told, her most memorable is her coverage of professional women in the area coming together to visit an all-girls charter school. Seeing how the different careers each woman exemplified opened the students’ eyes to new possibilities is something she’ll always keep with her.

A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists, Alexis keeps herself busy giving back to the community. In her free time, you can find her spending the day relaxing on Carolina Beach, and of course, making a required stop at the famous Britt’s Donut Shop.
