In the two years Tim has been with Spectrum News as a business reporter, he’s been inspired by the entrepreneurial and optimistic spirit of the Charlotte community - and his inspiration has taken him far! Tim is lucky enough to produce Spectrum News’ weekly segment, “Menu Hopping,” which was recognized as one of the Best News Series in the region by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas. Tim also won an Emmy for his work on “The Opioid Epidemic: Carolina in Crisis.”
Though Tim has covered countless meaningful stories, the one that he’s proudest of is a piece he did for the second anniversary of the Keith Scott shooting. Tim spoke to Queen City native and professional wrestler Darius Lockhart about how he’s using his unique platform to bring attention to the Black Lives Matter movement. Lockhart’s thoughts, feelings, and opinions on the shooting were a kind of honesty journalists gloss over at times. The story reminded Tim that journalists are on the front line of history, and it’s their job to give the public a sense of the reality of our times, along with the facts.
While some people try to keep their professional and personal lives separate, Tim went out of his way to marry the two…literally! Tim proposed to an executive producer at Spectrum News in October 2018, and they’re saying “I do” in July 2019.
