WAKE COUNTY, N.C. – The House Wake! COVID-19 Financial Assistance Program is giving a lifeline to many people struggling with paying rent during the pandemic.

Wake County and the City of Raleigh announced last month that $33 million in federal aid is now available to assist people who lost income due to COVID-19.

Assistance is available for up to 12 months of past-due rent, dating back to April 1, 2020. 

“I cried in relief on the phone with them," says applicant Kelly Greene. "They were just so personable, so caring and kind and they just kept reassuring me, 'no, we are going to pay this. We are going to get this taken care of, you are fine.'”
