HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Limousines may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to transportation, but could social distancing change that? One Triad business is hoping it may just attract more clients during the pandemic.

After 10 years in the business, Royal Limousine in High Point has become more essential than they thought. The owner of the limo business, Victor Jones, told us they are providing transportation for anyone in need of a safe lift.

“My smallest limo has 10 feet between the driver and the passengers, so we’re the only one, you can’t take an Uber, you can’t take a cab, because you’re too close to them," Jones said. “We can actually get you to your essential travel whether it is groceries, pharmacy, whatever you need we can help you get there and you’ll be safe the entire time," he added.

After the COVID-19 pandemic broke lose in the United States, many transportation businesses suffered greatly; as did Jones business.

“We lost prom season, we lost furniture market, we lost wedding season for 60 days," Jones explained. “Most transportation businesses are completely shut down right now, but having that partition and having that space between the driver and passengers is essential right now," he said.

The limo company told us they completely sanitize the limo after each passenger, as well as never letting the driver come in close contact. Jones told us, this is one way we can flatten the curve and provide people the transportation they need.

“I hope that we can use these vehicles to help the community," Jones said.
