MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The memory of fallen Mooresville Police Officer Jordan Sheldon was remembered in a unique way Friday.

  • Musician Kayla Vega and community members raise nearly $10K for Jordan H. Sheldon Memorial Scholarship
  • Money helps put police cadets through basic training at Mitchell Community College
  • Scholarship is an endowment and will continue each year

Musician Kayla Vega and other community members helped raise nearly $10,000 for the Jordan H. Sheldon Memorial Scholarship. The money will help police cadets go through basic training at Mitchell Community College.

The check was presented to Sheldon's brother Friday afternoon.

"Nothing will bring Jordan back and as we get through the holidays that has gotten harder, but on the opposite side of the coin, we have been touched by people’s generosity and people’s willingness to contribute," Sheldon's brother, Carson Ledford, said.

The scholarship is an endowment and continuing every year. Anyone wishing to donate can still do so.
