CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Terri Karam comes every week with a couple of volunteers from Block Love Charlotte to donate supplies to the homeless in uptown Charlotte.

She started getting involved with the homeless when she learned a friend of hers was without a house.

“There's people out there that you don't know are homeless that are, that you are one medical emergency away from being homeless,” Karam said.

It's why every Sunday she comes to not only hand out clothes, but hugs.

“Human touch is healing,” Karam said. “I believe everybody needs at least eight hugs a day.”

Karam says the strangers she works with become friends and friends become family.

Karam says they especially need warm clothes to give out, including socks, sweatshirts with hoods, and gloves. Click here for information on how to help.
