A Statesville police officer crashed into another vehicle while responding to another crash Tuesday night, according to a release.

The officer had their blue lights and siren on, responding to a crash, when a truck entered the traffic light intersection.

“As the officer entered the intersection, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on Glenway Drive crossed Turnersburg Highway toward Sunset Hill Road. The police vehicle collided with the Silverado, causing the truck to overturn and subsequently strike a 2018 Dodge Journey that was stopped at the traffic light,” police said in a release.

The driver of the truck and officer were sent to the hospital with minor injuries and are expected to be OK. The driver in the Dodge Journey wasn’t hurt.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
