Utica has sold the final Urban Renewal Property on Whitesboro Street, which officials said will lead to changes for Bagg's Square.

The city is selling the land for $500,000 to MSP Realty, who will build about 130 apartments in the space. Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri said he doesn't yet know how much each unit will rent for.

The proposed project will go in front of the Urban Renewal Agency, then it would need Common Council approval before the deal is complete and construction can begin.

"This is a great day for the city of Utica, because it is just another brick of the great house that we are building at this point. I said before, we want to be the best little city in America," said Palmieri.

The $13 million project is expected to begin next spring.
