As of late Tuesday night, police were still looking for a missing toddler in the Bronx.
Two-year-old Montrell Williams was last seen on May 10 wearing a white T-shirt and a diaper on Hunts Point Road in the Bronx, which is about a half-mile from the Bronx River.
Divers for the NYPD have begun searching for Montrell under the water.
The boy’s father, 20-year-old Arius Williams, is being held in Department of Correction custody, because when family court asked him to bring the child, he was unable to do so.
Arius has been remanded into custody since Monday.
Mayor Eric Adams was asked about the case, and said officials are still looking into the situation. Adams called the situation “troubling,” and said they are still investigating.
“We’re still praying that the child is all right,” he said.
NY1 reached out to Montrell’s grandparents, but no one answered the door or the phone.
Police sources told NY1 on Tuesday afternoon they wouldn’t be surprised if there was an arrest within the next 24 hours.
The NYPD is asking anyone with information to call their Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
