AUSTIN, Texas The Sobering Center in Austin will soon mark six months of operations.

  • Center has served more than 1,000 patients
  • Center has been open for six months
  • Saved city and county $335,000 in costs

In that time alone, the center has helped more than 1,000 patients. The Center is also gearing up for its first South by Southwest, which brings thousands of visitors to the city.

“We are thrilled that we have provided such a significant economic savings and service impact to Austin & Travis County in such a short time,” said Dr. Rhonda G. Patrick, the Sobering Center’s executive director.

From September 2018 to February 2019, the City of Austin and Travis County saved approximately $335,000 in emergency medical services and law enforcement costs with more than 1,000 diversions to The Sobering Center.
