OHIO — The heat is on.

Dangerous heat spreads across Ohio starting today. Temperatures will soar to the 90s statewide starting Sunday, which will mark the first heat wave of the summer.

What You Need To Know

  • A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of the state

  • An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect for some of northwest Ohio

  • An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for some of southern/southeast Ohio
  • Heat Index Values 100-105°+ likely through next week, and expect no relief from rain as chances remain low through midweek

Heat Alerts are in effect statewide starting Sunday. Most of the state will see seven consecutive days of high temperatures in the 90s along with high humidity. A large area of high pressure will keep the state dry through at least midweek. Northern Ohio could see a little relief by the end of the week as a frontal system stalls to the north, but the rest of Ohio will still be mainly dry with highs staying in the 90s.

Outdoor conditions will remain dangerous for children, pets and the elderly. Heat index values will trend 100-105 degrees and up through most of the work week.

Make sure you take the proper precautions like staying hydrated, limit outdoor activities and take several breaks if you do have to be outdoors.
