The man and his child went missing on Saturday after capsizing on an inflatable near Sheraton Suites. The search began that Saturday night, and the boy was found on Sunday.

“This is a deeply heartbreaking situation,” said Mayor Don Walters. “Our hearts are with the family during this incredibly difficult time. Our goal remains to bring their loved one home.”

Cuyahoga Falls city officials said the search now includes about 50 personnel, along with five boats, three drones, two search canines and side-scan sonar operations.

Searching has had its challenges after water levels reached extremely high levels. But on Monday night, officials said now that the river is lowering back down to normal, search personnel is making progress into new areas.

“These operations are complex and physically demanding, but our teams are trained and committed to doing everything possible to provide closure to the family,” said Cuyahoga Falls Fire Chief Chris Martin.

Multiple agencies are assisting at the scene, including the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, Akron Fire and Police Departments, Summit Metro Park and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Water levels in the Cuyahoga River caused multiple capsizings over the weekend. Over in Kent, officials had to rescue more than 50 people and many dogs from the water.
