On Saturday, the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department received a call of a man and his 5-year-old child going missing in the Cuyahoga River after their inflatable capsized near Sheraton Suites. The search for them began Saturday evening with multiple agencies from the surrounding area taking part in the search.

Cuyahoga Falls city officials confirmed Sunday that they had found the body of the child, who was transported to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

River levels have been making rescue efforts for the man difficult as they remain high, officials said in an update Sunday night. The search had to be suspended for the man Saturday night due to rough water conditions.

Cuyahoga Falls city officials are urging others to stay away from the Cuyahoga River and Gorge Metro Park, as the current remains dangerous and to not interfere with search operations.

"Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones during this tragic time," the City of Cuyahoga Falls wrote in a statement. "Additional updates will be provided as new information becomes available."

Emergency crews are using rescue boats, aerial drones and a patrol helicopter with infrared technology for the search. Multiple agencies are assisting at the scene, including the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, Akron Fire and Police Departments, Summit Metro Park and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
