They enhance experiences you have been doing since birth - experiences you probably did not think even needed enhancing. Time Warner Cable News’ Adam Balkin checks out two apps that are great concepts and could prove quite entertaining when they work the kinks out.

Booktrack

Booktrack turns reading a book into kind of like reading a movie by adding a soundtrack to the pages. It is very subtle, just enough to help enhance the drama but not too much to distract you from reading. It does so by having you set your reading rate. A little arrow on the right should align with each line as you’re reading it.  You can adjust the speed as well.  That way every song, every sound effect is synced perfectly with what you’re reading at that exact moment. And while there are thousands of books in the app, many of which are totally free, the downside to this one is there’s a good chance if you’re a fan of recent, bestsellers, your book will not be included here - at least not for a while.  Booktrack is a free app for iOS and Android devices; you can also use it via your computer.

Spylight

Spylight is an app you use while watching your favorite show or movie. You can use it in a few ways, but the way that takes full advantage of your device’s capabilities: hit this symbol and the app will listen to the movie or show, identify it - all so that it can tell you what all the characters are wearing. So if you see an actor on screen and like his or her outfit, shoes, jewelry, makeup - all of it will be listed for you right there in the app complete with links so that you can buy it right then and there too.  You can also just pop open the show or movie you like and browse that way. And similar limitation with this one: while there are lots of popular shows and movies in there, it won’t work with every show or movie. Spylight is also a free app for iOS devices.
