A swimmer was injured on the leg around 11 a.m., according to the Sunset Beach Fire Department, while in the ocean near the 31st Street beach access point.

The swimmer was conscious and alert when rescuers arrived. They were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, authorities said.
