ORLANDO, Fla. —For theme park lovers, Thursday's grand opening of Epic Universe was the day most have been waiting for.

And while thousands piled into to experience the thrills, some of the people just outside of the walls in Tangelo Park have a different perspective.

“Oh, it’s loud. I can stand outside my door and hear people screaming on the rollercoasters,” shared Tangelo Park homeowner Roneisha Thomas. “The fireworks at night are absolutely horrible. They’re way too loud.”

Thomas says she can see the rides from her home.

For years, Thomas says she has dealt with folks speeding down her street and flying over speed bumps.

But with Epic Universe in the fold, she says the traffic that comes with it isn’t so epic.

“I hate it. I hate that I can’t turn right on red because somebody is going straight,” Thomas explained. “There are a lot of tourists and random people coming through here and I don’t feel safe with my son outside.”

But not everyone has bad things to say about Central Florida’s newest tourist attraction.

“I think it’s actually a cool thing that we get to see something like that totally develop because that area used to be all trees,” said Tangelo Park resident Jeremy Walker. “Yeah, and we watched it turn into a whole theme park. So it’s pretty amazing.”

Walker has lived in this neighborhood for four decades and says he feels lucky to be so close to the park.

Thomas, on the other hand, says despite all these concerns, her family is not going anywhere.

“No, absolutely not. My house is paid off. I like that. I don’t like paying high rent. I’m not going anywhere,” Thomas said.

Walker, however, already has a price in mind in case Universal wants to expand.

“Just don’t buy the homes but you can buy mine for a million,” exclaimed Walker.

While traffic is a big concern for folks in Tangelo Park, noise seemed to be the biggest complaint.

And with fireworks expected to take place each night, some neighbors are thinking about started a petition to get that changed.
