Looking to take in a show but overwhelmed by the amount of choices?  Look no further. "On Stage" host Frank DiLella will be curating a list of “must-see” shows every two weeks, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond. Here's his picks for this week.

“Kimberly Akimbo the Musical”

Kimberly is a bright teen from New Jersey, with a rare aging disease that makes her look like a 72-year-old lady.

The musical features a book by Pulitzer Prize winner David Linsday-Abaire and music by Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori.

The show stars theater favorite Victoria Clark in the title role.

“Kimberly Akimbo the Musical” is playing at the Booth Theatre.

”Into the Woods”

Catch it before it closes.

The hit Broadway revival of “Into the Woods” will end its run at the St. James Theatre on Jan. 8.

”Downstate”

Now playing at Playwrights Horizons off-Broadway is “Downstate” — a new drama by Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris.

This heavy, thought provoking and provocative new play centers around four men living in a group home for sex offenders.

The show was just extended for a second time and is playing through Jan. 7.

“Sandra Bernhard: Soul’d Out”

Moving to the downtown arts scene, actress and comedian, Sandra Bernhard, returns to Joe’s Pub for her annual holiday run.

Her new show is titled “Soul’d Out”.

According to press notes, Bernhard will take audiences to places they’ve never been. She’ll be shaking, breaking, but never faking!

Sandra is at Joe’s Pub from Dec. 27 through Dec. 31.

”Speakeasy Magick”

And finally, “Speakeasy Magick,” hosted by acclaimed magician Todd Robbins

It features a changing roster of New York City’s best magicians presenting up-close and personal illusions in the Club Car at the McKittrick Hotel.
