A new bill demands greater transparency from New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services in child abuse and maltreatment cases.

The bill amends existing law and would allow the Department of Investigation to access case records related to youth in the city’s care.

As the current law stands, the DOI is often unable to access the agency’s records when it conducts investigations.

The new legislation is sponsored by State Assemblymember Andrew Hevesi, who claims without these powers, DOI is unable to properly investigate ACS, creating a risk to city children and families.

Jocelyn Strauber, commissioner of the Department of Investigation, joined Annika Pergament exclusively on “The Rush Hour” Monday to discuss the legislation.
