The Trump administration is continuing their efforts to claw back $20 billion worth of Biden-era climate funding for low-income communities — part of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

The fund is an effort to eliminate financial barriers for working-class communities and provide greater access to renewable energy technology.

For now, the $20 billion remains frozen in a Citibank account, preventing eight organizations from distributing the money that would finance tens of thousands of projects across the country to fight climate change and promote environmental justice.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has — without evidence — accused the recipients of the program of misconduct and waste.

Cathie Mahon, the president and CEO of Inclusiv, one of the group’s tasked with disbursing the now-frozen funds, joined “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss the latest.
