New York City is a multicultural hub with dozens of museums, hundreds of parks and millions of people. The number of potential things to see and do can feel overwhelming, but NY1 has you covered with some of the highlights taking place this weekend across the five boroughs.

Forest Hills Stadium summer concerts

The shows must go on. While the annual concert series was in doubt due to noise complaints, the NYPD granted sound amplification permits and the venue operators invested in a state-of-the-art system to reduce the volume outside the stadium.

Around 30 acts, including Phish, Pulp and Mumford and Sons, will take the stage before October. Bloc Party kicks off the series on Saturday.

New Michael C. Rockefeller Wing at The Met

Following years of renovations, The Met is opening its new Michael C. Rockefeller wing Saturday, featuring the arts of Africa, the ancient Americas and Oceania.

A special event featuring live music, art demonstrations and conversations with curators will mark the occasion.

Bike Day at Prospect Park

The Bartel Pritchard Square entrance of Prospect Park will be the site of the first-ever Bike Day.

Organizers describe it as a "free, family-friendly celebration to encourage safe cycling and close out National Bike Month."

Cyclists of all levels, from first-time riders to biking enthusiasts, are encouraged to attend, with offerings including free helmet and light giveaways, guided rides, minor repairs, safety workshops and even some arts and crafts.

'Van Gogh's Flowers' at NYBG

"Van Gogh's Flowers" at the New York Botanical Garden allows visitors to "revel in the beauty of the flowers that inspired his iconic paintings."

Featuring botanical displays and 3D sculptures from contemporary artists, the exhibit celebrates the legendary Dutch painter's connection to the natural world.

Luna Park

At the largest amusement park in the city, returning visitors may notice some new arcade games and renovated retail outlets.

Smorgasburg

Returning for its 15th year, Smorgasburg β€” an outdoor food bazaar with more than 70 vendors β€” is back for the season.

Offerings include tacos, cheesesteaks, barbecue, fish and chips, dumplings, coffee, snacks, desserts and more. For a full list of vendors, check here.

CityWorks

A new interactive exhibit at the New York Hall of Science helps visitors understand how cities work, focusing on the systems of the five boroughs.

CityWorks, the first large-scale exhibition at NYSCI since it reopened in October 2022, explains the everyday engineering behind things like water, sanitation and transportation that keep New York running.

Queens Night Market

The Queens Night Market has returned for the warmer months, with up to 100 independent vendors selling everything from food to art and other merchandise.

Organizers say the open-air market is the city's "first and most affordable" night market, with prices for all food at the event capped at $6. The variety of food available is said to reflect the diversity of Queens, known as "the world's borough."

INTER NYC

A series of 10 immersive exhibits brings visitors on a cosmic adventure through outer space.

Each space has a different activity, from stepping inside a black hole or bouncing through a swirling vortex to exploring a volcanic planet.

Frick Collection

The museum at the former home of industrialist and art patron Henry Clay Frick has reopened after being closed for a multi-year renovation project.

The collection of European paintings from the 14th to 19th centuries originally opened in 1935, but the second floor has always been closed to the public β€” until now.

The grand staircase is now open for visitors to check out an entirely new suite of galleries. Read more here.
