Commuters faced a slew of delays Thursday morning due to unexpected train rerouting and maintenance on the 2 and 3 lines, according to the MTA.

Southbound 2 trains were diverted onto the 5 line from 149th Street-Grand Concourse in the Bronx to Nevins Street in Brooklyn, causing congestion and delays along the route.

Additionally, southbound 3 trains experienced delays as they were impacted by maintenance work, which focused on “urgent” switch repairs near 145th Street in Harlem. The MTA has advised commuters to expect longer wait times on the 3 line as the work continues.

For those needing 2 train service along the Seventh Avenue line, the MTA suggested using a 3 train as an alternative. The agency also warned that delays are expected on the 4 and 5 trains, which are sharing tracks with the rerouted 2 trains.
