NEW YORK- Frances Edelstein, the owner of Cafe Edison in the Theatre District, has died.
Known as "the Queen of the Polish Tea Room," Edelstein was a Holocaust survivor who fled her native Poland as a child with her husband.
Decades later, they transformed the former ballroom at the Hotel Edison into a restaurant.
It soon became a favorite of Broadway actors, directors, playwrights and producers.
The Edelsteins received a Tony Honor for excellence in 2004 before the restaurant's closure 10 years later.
Edelstein is survived by her two children, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
She was 92 years old.
