New Yorkers are finding big and small ways to say thank you to those on the front line.

G Free New York is teaming with businesses to feed at at least 100 health care workers at different hospitals in the city. They've been delivering meals for our health care heroes. One who was working a 24 hour shift said the food was above and beyond what she ever anticipated.

Yesterday we delivered to front liner Melisa, a lead nurse in her @nyulangone unit who’s expecting her first child in August. Melisa was nominated by her friend Antigona to have a restaurant delivery to her unit. Antigona wanted to bring a smile to her dear friend as Melisa’s unit has shrunk as some of her team have been hit with COVID-19 and are in quarantine. The remaining members of Melisa’s unit are working long shifts under stressful conditions, spending much of their days testing for COVID-19. Receiving a special delivery gives our hospital heroes a moment to release the heightened emotions they’re all going through while being a front liner in this time of the coronavirus pandemic. Antigona wrote me after Melisa received her delivery, “Oh she was in tears Gaby, and then I was in tears to see how happy she was. She was so thankful to know that someone is thinking about her and her team during this pandemic.” Thank you to all that donated and made another delivery happen. If you, a friend or loved one works on the front lines and would like a delivery to your unit or a few units in your hospital, please dm me. For anyone who’d like to donate to more of our feeding the front liners, Venmo @Gabrielle-Armour and thank you again to @roberto_caporuscio of @kestepizza. Melisa and her unit were thrilled and so appreciative for your participation! #nursestrong #nurses #covid19 #covid19nyc #nycdoctors #icu #icunurses #icudoctors #nychospitals #nyulangone #nycstrong #nycnurses #frontliners #frontlineworkers #hospitalheroes #healthcareworkers

In chalk on a sidewalk, messages like this: Thank you medical professionals you are NYC Heroes.

And on Instagram our producer Chad wrote, "Went to the grocery store.. the manager was telling employees their schedules. One cashier said I'm sick of being an essential worker. A man handed her a 20 dollar tip. Melted my heart."

At 7 p.m. it's become a familiar sound - New Yorkers clapping and cheering for our health care workers and others on the front  line. Michelle is a veteran teacher at Wagner Middle School in Manhattan. Her mom is an emergency room doctor. Each night Michelle says thank you to her mom and all those working to save lives.
