CLEVELAND — Cedar Point is adding a comedy show to their summer lineup.

What You Need To Know

  • Cedar Point is collaborating with Secret Society Comedy to add three shows every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the park this summer

  • Secret Society Comedy is a travelling northeast Ohio comedy club, and they've hosted shows at 60 different venues

  • The hope is that this show adds to people's overall experience at Cedar Point

Comedian David Horning co-founded Secret Society Comedy, a traveling comedy club in northeast Ohio. It began in 2022 with the goal of giving comics more time on stage.

“We just wanted to create a show that we would want to perform on and we would want to pay for if we were in the audience,” Horning said.

It originally began as a late-night show on Saturdays featuring local comics and also some from out of town. They have now hosted shows at 60 different venues across northeast Ohio.

“There’s nothing like laughing in a room full of strangers that brings people together,” Horning said.

Now, they will have shows Cedar Point beginning June 6 through Aug. 31. There will be three shows a night every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Lisa Jones, the director of live entertainment for Cedar Point, explained why they wanted to add a comedy show.

“We know guests love to ride rides," she said. "We know guests love to come see shows. We know that there’s specific things they come to amusement parks for, but what can we offer that they can’t get just anywhere else?"

Jones said Cedar Point is about making memories, and this new show will be a part of that.

“They leave with a warm place in their heart and them going, 'that was so cool,' and 'I can’t do that anywhere else, and when can I come back and do that again because I love that,'” she said.

Horning grew up in northeast Ohio and has plenty of his own memories from Cedar Point growing up. Now he will be making new ones, but this time at the show he helped to curate.

‘We’re going to have people from all over the country, all over the world, at Cedar Point," he said. "Its a destination."

The first two shows each night are 14 and up and the late night show is for 21 up.
