The San Antonio area is under an Excessive Heat Warning until 7 p.m.

Today should be the peak of the high heat before a weak cold front arrives tomorrow.  Yesterday we broke a record high temperature of 103. The previous record was 102 set in 2009.  Today's record high is 103 set in 1994.

The center of the high retreats back to the west tonight through the middle of the week. A weak front sinking through the Plains will make it into Texas tonight and reach South Central Texas tomorrow.  This could send a couple of showers or thunderstorms our way.  The chance for measurable rain is slim at 20%.  Temperatures may back off below 100 for a couple of days.

Your 7 Day Forecast is just hot.

As always, pay attention to your body's warning signals when working or playing outdoors.  Sunscreen and water are needed.  Light-colored clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, even an umbrella to block out the sun will serve you well.

It is around this time of the year that many people on fixed incomes will try not to use as much a/c as is needed to keep them cool.  If you know someone who may fall into this category please let them spend time with you.  And, keep the pets safe by letting them stay indoors.  Walk them early in the morning or after 7:30.  If they are outdoors pets make sure they have plenty of cool water and more than adequate shade.

Have a great day.
