Wednesday will feature some morning clouds and hot temperatures, but few folks might see a brief shower. High pressure aloft is getting stronger, but the sea breeze is likely to kick up a few isolated thunderstorms during the heat of the afternoon. These showers move west and inland through the day before dissipating just as they get to the I-35 corridor. Overall, expect a 20% of showers today with highs in the low 90s.

That high pressure overhead shutdowns the sea breeze mechanism starting Thursday. We’ll see the summer pattern of low clouds early and afternoon sunshine through the holiday weekend with slowly rising temperatures. No rain is expected for the period.

Highs will push into the upper 90s by Friday and some triple digit 100s are possible Memorial Day and much of next week. Computer forecasts are spinning up a tropical system in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico during the weekend. Texas remains on the dry side of the potential storm and no impacts are anticipated.
