Deep moisture on strong south winds has swept over much of Texas. This brings clouds for much of the morning but as drier air mixes down to the surface, skies will clear briefly this afternoon. Look for highs Thursday to reach the middle and upper 80s with spots to the west closer to 90.

Thursday night brings clouds and a chance of a few light, isolated showers. Most of us will stay dry, but a few places might see a few hundredths of an inch. A better chance of rain and a few thunderstorms occurs Friday.

As a dryline forms west of the I-35 corridor Friday, an upper level disturbance will also pass overhead. This looks to be the best chance for showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon but most activity will likely be east of the I-35 corridor. There is also a low risk of a few storms reaching severe limits with gusty winds and hail.

A strong late-season cold front follows on Saturday morning with strong winds and much cooler temperatures. Temperatures drop about 20 degrees for the weekend, with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s.
