Low level Gulf moisture has streamed into the Central Texas region. High in the atmosphere, a strong disturbance is tracking east over Mexico. As the surface moisture builds and lift arrives from the west, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop across the Coastal Plains this afternoon, drifting near the I-35 corridor late in the day. Overall the chance of rain stands at 30% with highs in the middle 80s and south winds.

A few showers linger into Friday evening, but a slightly lower chance of showers is expected Saturday. Temperatures start in the low 70s Friday with highs in the middle and a few upper 80s. Saturday features highs in the upper 80s to near 90 with mostly cloudy skies.

A strong cold front will arrive early Sunday with some strong storms and brief heavy rains. Cooler, drier air will spread into the area with highs in the low 80s Sunday. More details in the 7 Day Forecast.
