SAN ANTONIO — Students and staff of Southside ISD broke ground for a new medical clinic on Monday.

The new clinic will located next to the administration building on campus. This comes after local philanthropist, Kym Rapier, donated more than $1 million to the district.

The clinic, named after Rapier, is designed to focus on medical, dental and mental health care. It will provide free treatment to the students, staff and community members. Southside ISD says the facility is what the district needs.

"What we are going to be able to do for Southside ISD is when the students are having any medical issues at school, and we have their proper consent forms, we're going to bring them to the clinic here, provide the necessary services and them put them back in the classroom," Mark Eads, Superintendent for Southside ISD said.

The Kym Rapier Community Health Clinic is scheduled to be completed by late April.
